Club training sessions

Juveniles

Training Sessions:
Tuesdays & Thursdays
6.30-7.
30pm

Clones AC take juveniles as member in the year they turn 9 years of age - so for 2019, that means we will be accepting juveniles members born in 2013

Juveniles are trained to compete in cross country (middle distance) and track (sprints, relay, hurdles & middle distance) and field (shot putt, long jump, javelin & high jump) events.

Competitions take place at club, county, provincial and all Ireland levels.

The cross country season starts September and runs til December.  The Track and Field season wraps around this.
Age categories for competing in country, provincial and all-Ireland events are different to other sports. The following is a guide to the age categories for 2021 and the eligible year of birth:

Under 9:  Born 2013
Under 10  Born 2012
Under 11: Born 2011
Under 12: Born 2010
Under 13: Born 2009
Under 14: Born 2008
Under 15: Born 2007
Under 16: Born 2006
Under 17: Born 2005
Under 18: Born 2004


Running for Absolute Beginners
Organised at specific times of the year
Training Sessions

7.30-8.30pm

Clones AC introduced the "Running for Absolute Beginners" programme in July 2012 and since then have introduced over 500 people to running through a 9-week programme of gentle progression and encouragement.

The graduates of the Absolutes Programme are encouraged to join in mainstream training sessions to continue their running development in line with their personal running goals.

Seniors

Training Sessions:
Tuesdays & Thursdays
7.30-8.
30pm

For all seniors who can run for 30 mins/5k and want to improve their performance.  These sessions will alternate between track and road on Mondays and will be on the track on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

A variety of speed, tempo and fartlek training programmes, these sessions will assist in the development of technique, pace and endurance for those who want to continue to develop their running performance.
