County Even Age XC Championships
Sun 14th Oct – Kilmore, Scotstown – 2pm The first race of the new Cross Country season takes place on Sunday 14th October at the Scotstown GAA Traning Pitches which are on the roadside between Scotstown and Ballinode. All athletes are asked to turn out with races for the age groups below. B & G U10 (Born 2009/10) 400m B & G U12 (Born 2007/08) 1000m G U14 (Born 2005/06) 1200m B U14 (Born 2005/06) 1500m G U16 (Born 2003/04) 2000m B U16 (Born 2003/04) 3000m Jr Women (Born 1999-2002) 3000m Jr Men (Born 1999-2002) 5000m Sen Women 3000m Sen Men 6000m Gear: In Cross Country all athletes would preferably need Spikes which can be purchased in Mc Dermott Sports which is situated up the side Dunnes Stores in Monaghan. There are spikes from Size 3 up available. For the shoes for Cross Country you will need 9mm spikes but if purchasing also get a set of 5mm spikes which are needed when you race on the track like at the Peace Link. Athletes for races are to run in shorts and club t shirt or vest, with track suit to warm up in and a rain jacket. Always bring a change of clothes as you never know what conditions are going to be like. Entry Fee €3 per athlete All athletes are asked to be at the Scotstown Training Pitches which is situated between Scotstown and Ballinode at 1:15 for warm up with the Girls U10 race off at 2pm Sharp. All athletes are asked to meet at Club Shed at end of track at 12.30. Competition to start at 1pm and finish between at 4pm approximately . Athletes are asked to stay for Relays at the end of programme if on a team. All athletes are asked to be in warm clothes and rain jacket, and to compete in shorts, club t shirt/vest and in Spikes (5mm) spikes or Trainers. After a good turnout at the First Round of this League, we are hoping that athletes again turn out in good numbers Friday evening. The club will be putting on a bus, leaving the town car park on Jubliee Rd at 5:00pm sharp with a cover charge of €5 per athlete. Bus will hopefully be back in Clones at approximately 9:30pm. We will contact parents on way back from Carrick. All athletes are asked to be in warm clothes and rain jacket, and to compete in shorts, club t shirt/vest and in Spikes (5mm) spikes or Trainers, and bring a CHANGE OF CLOTHES. The following are the age groups and race distances U10-400m, U12 800m, U14 1000m & U16 2000m. All athletes are asked to be at the Monaghan Harps GAA Complex for 1:15. Races start at 2pm. Entry Fee €3 per athlete. These races are followed by 5k race which doubles as the last race of the 2017 County Distance League and the first of he 2018 League. There are a number of races in the next month, with all athletes needing to be registered this week if they want to compete. On Sunday next 14th January the Development Juvenile races for U10/12/14 & 16 take place at 2pm with the 5k for Juniors/ Seniors and Masters taking place at 3pm. This race is the final race of the 2017 Distance League as well as the First of the 2018 Series. The race Headquarters is Monaghan Harps GAA Complex just off Old Cross Square. All Juvenile athletes are asked to be present at 1:15, while Seniors can register up to 2:30.
The Ulster Indoor Championships take place in the Athlone Indoor Arena this year on Saturday 3rd & Sunday 4th February, while the Armagh International Road Races take place on Thursday 15th February. Entries for both these events close on Tuesday 16th January. Club membership is now due for 2018 and must be paid by January 15th to ensure continuity of insurance coverage. Committee members will be present in the Peacelink on Tuesday 9th, Thursday 11th and Tuesfday 15th witth 2018 membership forms to receive subs for 2018. Subscriptions for 2018 remain the same as for 2017: Juveniles -€20, Seniors - €25. A family discount of €5 is given per person is given for the second and each subsequent member of a family. e.g.. 2 parents and 2 children = €25 + €25 + €20 +€20 = €90, less €5 x 3 discount = €75 2018 memberships forms can be downloaded from the Membership page on this website. Please note a Code of conduct for juveniles and partnes is also available on this page. THe Code of conduct form on the reverse of the Juvenile form should be signed by both the athlete and the parent when returning the membership form.
